New retail: appointment is not allocation
The official Rolex FAQ explains that production standards can constrain capacity and demand may exceed it. Official Retailers receive regular deliveries and independently decide allocations and sales; the retailer is the source for regional availability. A concierge introduction, appointment, deposit request or expression of interest must never be described as a confirmed allocation.
Confirm the boutique in Rolex's current locator, the person corresponding from its verified contact details, and what the meeting actually covers. Do not misstate identity, residence, gift recipient, ownership, client history or purchase purpose. No intermediary can create a legitimate shortcut around a retailer's customer process.
For any offered new watch, require the exact reference and configuration on the invoice. Rolex states that its five-year guarantee is valid when the watch was sold by an Official Retailer, the guarantee card was fully completed there at purchase, and the card is presented with the watch to an Official Retailer or Service Centre. The seller should explain the applicable local return, deposit and tax rules in writing.
RCPO and independent pre-owned are different channels
RCPO is manufacturer-backed: Rolex says the watch returns to its workshops, where original configuration is examined, it is authenticated and fully serviced, and it receives a distinct seal and guarantee card. The programme is limited to certain participating points in the Official Retailer network. Its two-year international guarantee begins at the RCPO sale.
An independent pre-owned watch does not acquire that status through a dealer certificate, box, old card or recent service invoice. Identify the legal seller, ownership, return rights, governing law and proposed inspection. Compare case, movement, dial, hands, bezel, bracelet, clasp and identifiers through a competent route, noting original, period-correct, service-replaced, restored, refinished or aftermarket parts.

Service history, parts and modifications
Rolex excludes watches materially modified with non-genuine parts from its new-watch guarantee. Its care FAQ also excludes damage or functional impact resulting from unauthorised opening, repair or manipulation. Confirm the actual guarantee card, dates and service record rather than assuming coverage from the watch's age.
After a complete service by a Rolex Authorized Service Centre, the official Service Card confirms the procedure and carries a two-year international service guarantee. Before approving work on a collectable piece, document the estimate, parts to be replaced, refinishing, return of removed parts where permitted, water-resistance target and effect on originality. Reliability work and collector preference are not always the same decision.
