REQUEST VIP coordinates megayacht charter enquiries for private groups requiring substantial accommodation, service infrastructure and route planning. Send dates, region, guest composition, cabin plan, events, tender movements and budget structure. The concierge will request named commercially operated yachts and documented terms; size labels, availability, capacity, amenities, ports and cost are never assumed.

Key Facts

  • “Megayacht” is a market description, not one universal regulatory size class.
  • Certification depends on flag, use, dimensions, tonnage, voyage and passenger count.
  • A berth plan, tender plan and guest manifest must agree with the same itinerary.
  • The captain retains authority over navigation, weather decisions, equipment and safe operations.

What makes this brief different

A megayacht enquiry is not solved by choosing the longest profile. Larger dimensions can create more cabin, service and deck options, but also affect berth access, pilotage, anchoring, tender transfers, fuel, provisioning and turnaround. The word itself has no single worldwide threshold. Compare registered particulars and certificates rather than treating “mega” as a technical promise.

The UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency's current REG Yacht Code Part A illustrates why the commercial status matters: its stated scope covers certain yachts of at least 24 metres in commercial sport or pleasure use carrying no more than 12 passengers. That is a UK/Red Ensign framework, not a global definition or a claim about any listing. Other flags, passenger configurations and coastal states can trigger different rules.

Use the yacht charter hub to compare the wider booking formats and operating questions.

The superyacht charter page explains the broader category. This page concentrates on briefs where vessel scale increases shoreside coordination, service zones, embarkation detail and multi-supplier expense control.

Destinations

Start with a navigable operating area, not a collection of pins. The proposed yacht must fit the arrival port, likely anchorages and alternative refuge with its registered length, beam, draught and air draught. Berth dimensions, anchoring restrictions, protected waters, traffic schemes, pilotage, customs and tender-landing rules are checked for the actual dates.

Large-yacht itineraries may need guests and stores to move by tender even when a town has a marina. Map embarkation luggage, children, reduced mobility, security staff and late arrivals from road to deck. A restaurant booking or event invitation does not create a berth, a legal landing point or a safe transfer. An expedition yacht brief is a better comparison when remoteness and self-sufficiency outweigh destination display.

Sizes

Review length overall and load-line length where relevant, gross tonnage, beam, draught, air draught, deck arrangement, lifts, passerelles, tender garages and crew circulation. These figures answer different questions. Length affects berth fit; tonnage helps describe enclosed volume; draught constrains water depth; air draught can remove bridges or overhead obstacles.

Ask for a current general arrangement and registered particulars. Trace guest movement between cabins, dining, exterior decks, gym or wellness rooms, swim platform and muster stations. Then trace service movement between galley, stores, laundry and crew areas. A dramatic deck plan can still be wrong for the party if stairs, noise, privacy or tender loading interrupt daily use.

Guest Capacity

The written offer must separate passengers permitted while underway, approved overnight berths, crew and any dockside-event limit. Never convert lounge seating into legal capacity. Children, nannies, protection personnel, performers and visiting specialists all count as people aboard even when their roles differ.

Build a named cabin matrix before contracting: bed configuration, ensuite access, adjoining options, safe arrangements for children, location relative to machinery and genuine accessibility. If the group wants a celebration, filming, external catering or many visitors, disclose it at enquiry stage. The owner, operator, flag rules, port, insurer and captain may each impose conditions.

Amenities

Treat every amenity as a vessel-specific fact. Request a dated inventory for stabilisers, connectivity, audiovisual systems, gym equipment, spa rooms, pool or spa pool, beach club, tender fleet, personal watercraft, boards, diving equipment, child equipment and medical resources. A photograph, sister-ship brochure or old charter listing does not confirm present installation or condition.

For each tender or activity, confirm operator, launch method, passenger limit, licences, instructor, insurance, cruising zone and weather threshold. The captain can suspend equipment for safety, maintenance or local restrictions. The yacht concierge service can coordinate guest requests, but it does not replace crew command or regulatory approval.

Charter Duration

Duration should include operational time around the guest stay. Positioning, crew preparation, provisions, bunkering, technical work, port clearance and redelivery may sit outside the advertised embarkation window yet affect feasibility and cost. A short high-profile event charter can demand more shoreside sequencing than a longer coastal week.

For a 7-night comparison, review the weekly yacht charter framework. The agreement must identify the yacht and contracting party, exact dates and ports, cruising area, guest limits, crew, fee, tax, expense mechanism, fuel, communications, berths, delivery, security deposit if any, cancellation and force-majeure treatment. .

Operating file and total exposure

One controlled file should connect the contract, manifest, cabin plan, passport requirements, dietary and medical information voluntarily provided, baggage, transfers, port contacts and contingency routes. Last-minute port changes must reach aviation, drivers, agents and the yacht through an agreed chain. Sensitive information should be limited to what the responsible operator requires.

Compare total exposure rather than a headline fee: tax, fuel, positioning, ports, provisions, drinks, communications, tender fuel, activity specialists, security, ground transport and cancellation risk. REQUEST VIP should only relay amounts supported by a current written quote.

How It Works

  1. Provide dates, region, party, cabin matrix, event plans, mobility needs, tenders and budget structure.
  2. Receive with named yachts, current documents, layouts and commercial assumptions.
  3. Test capacity, ports, route, amenities, crew service, expenses, contract and weather alternatives together.
  4. Confirm written terms, then close funds, manifest, provisioning, transfers and the captain-approved passage plan.

FAQ

Is there an official minimum size for a megayacht?

No single global marketing threshold governs the word “megayacht.” Use the named yacht's registered dimensions, tonnage, commercial certification and passenger permissions instead.

Can a megayacht host more than 12 guests?

Only when the specific vessel is certified and contracted for that passenger configuration under the applicable rules. Size or spare deck area alone does not authorise extra passengers.

Are berths included in a megayacht charter?

The signed offer must say who requests and pays for each berth. Port confirmation remains separate from yacht availability and can change the route or embarkation plan.

Which amenities are guaranteed?

Only items recorded in the current yacht-specific inventory and contract are part of the proposal. Use, launch or operation can still depend on condition, weather, licences, local rules and captain approval.

How are fuel and running expenses handled?

The contract may use an advance provisioning mechanism or another documented expense process. Ask for the inclusions, estimate basis, supporting records, reconciliation and treatment of unused funds.

Who makes the final route decision?

Guests state priorities, while the captain decides what can be operated safely and lawfully. Weather, technical condition, port instructions or traffic may require a revised passage.
