REQUEST VIP coordinates 50m-plus superyacht charter enquiries that require early control of flag status, passenger regime, ports, tenders, crew departments and substantial expenses. Send dates, region, guest and cabin plan, events, security needs and budget governance. Only named commercial yachts with documented availability, capacity, configuration and terms should enter the shortlist.

Key Facts

  • “50m plus” is a useful search boundary, not a universal legal category.
  • Gross tonnage and passenger certification can change operational requirements more than another metre of length.
  • Port, anchor, tender, aviation and ground plans need one decision chain.
  • Crew departments and guest programme must fit the yacht's approved accommodation and hours.

Scale becomes an operating system

Beyond 50m, the enquiry often involves several guest decks, multiple tenders, larger technical spaces, dedicated departments and more shoreside suppliers. None follows automatically from length. A fast sub-500-GT yacht near the boundary can operate differently from a steel yacht exceeding 1,000 GT, even if their lengths appear close on a search page.

Request length measurement, beam, draught, air draught, gross tonnage, hull and propulsion, range basis, stabilisation, class, flag and commercial certificates. Lloyd's Register describes class as technical verification against its rules; it does not replace flag registration or authorisation for commercial carriage. Every document needs the same yacht identity and current status.

The main yacht charter hub provides the general booking map. Compare 35–50m superyachts when port flexibility and a lighter operational footprint matter, or the megayacht page when the request is driven by large-scale service regardless of a precise length boundary.

Guest Capacity

Separate day passengers, approved overnight guests, crew and dockside visitors. More floor area does not permit more passengers. Within its published scope, the MCA REG Yacht Code Part A covers certain commercial yachts of at least 24m carrying no more than 12 passengers; the agency points to Part B for yachts carrying more than 12. That UK/Red Ensign example must not be presented as the rule for every flag.

If the brief contemplates 13 or more passengers, require explicit evidence of the applicable passenger-yacht certification, lifesaving arrangements, manning, insurance and operating limits. Do not treat a party while alongside as outside the count. Children, security, musicians, instructors, photographers and caterers remain persons aboard. The captain and port can impose a lower safe attendance.

Cabins

Larger volume can support a main-deck owner's suite, bridge-deck VIP, flexible doubles, family rooms, staff cabins and hospital or wellness space, but only the exact general arrangement proves it. Record each bed, conversion, bathroom, lift reach, stair route, privacy, noise, storage and emergency access. Confirm whether a labelled room is certified for sleeping or merely styled as one.

Map crew accommodation and working routes with the same care. Galley, pantry, laundry, housekeeping stores, bridge, engine room, tender team and service stairs affect how the guest programme runs. A request for round-the-clock meals, security posts or many activities needs staffing and rest arrangements confirmed by the operator, not assumed from hull size.

Example Yachts

Current shipyard material illustrates the range without establishing charter stock. Heesen reported the 55m Pa'lante delivered in 2026 at approximately 760 GT with six guest staterooms in its published specification. Sanlorenzo lists the 57Steel at 56.50m and 1,050 GT, with a layout capable of up to seven guest cabins. These facts were reviewed on 2 September 2026.

Neither example confirms commercial charter certification, availability or a relationship with REQUEST VIP. For any offered yacht, verify name and identifier, build and refit, dimensions, tonnage, flag, class, certificates, passenger limits, crew, current cabins, propulsion, tenders, equipment, photographs and contractual owner or operator. .

Destinations

Large-yacht destination planning begins with port and anchorage feasibility. Confirm berth dimensions and load limits, draught, tug or pilot requirements where applicable, security, customs, bunkering, shore power, waste reception, provisioning access and event restrictions. A prominent marina address is not proof of a berth, and yacht confirmation does not reserve one.

Anchoring transfers operational pressure to tenders. Check distance, sea exposure, passenger limit, luggage, night operation, accessible boarding, landing rights and backup port. Positioning can require days rather than hours depending on distance, weather, crew duty and clearance. An expedition yacht is a more relevant comparison when remote logistics, autonomy and specialist operations dominate.

Indicative Rates

A 50m-plus label cannot produce a truthful “from” rate. The commercial picture can include charter fee, tax, expense advance, fuel, positioning, ports, agents, provisions, beverages, communications, tenders, activity professionals, security, ground movements, medical support, deposit and cancellation. Bunkering and port deposits alone can make two similar base fees incomparable.

Require a dated estimate with currency, tax status, payment schedule, expense categories, approval thresholds, evidence standard and final reconciliation. Identify who can authorise exceptional spending and how unused funds return. .

Contract, class and command

The contract names the yacht, registered owner or operating counterparty, dates, delivery and redelivery, cruising limits, guest number, crew, fee, expenses, insurance responsibilities, breakdown, force majeure, cancellation and dispute process. Class status, flag certificates, charter agreement and insurer approval answer different questions and should not be substituted for one another.

The captain retains command of passage, anchoring, tenders and equipment. REQUEST VIP may connect aviation, transfers, provisioning and guest requests through a controlled itinerary, but does not exercise the master’s regulated functions or promise port and route approval.

How It Works

  1. Provide region, dates, full manifest concept, cabin allocation, events, service departments, security and budget controls.
  2. Receive with named 50m-plus yachts, current layouts, documents and cost assumptions.
  3. Audit passenger regime, class and flag evidence, crew, ports, tenders, cabins, inventory, contract and contingency chain.
  4. Confirm terms and funds, then close manifests, provisioning, aviation, shoreside movements and the captain-approved plan.

FAQ

Does a yacht become a different legal class at exactly 50 metres?

Not universally. Length is only one input; flag, gross tonnage, commercial use, passenger count, build and voyage determine the applicable requirements.

Can a 50m-plus yacht carry more than 12 guests?

Only when the named vessel has certification for that passenger regime and the contract permits it. Extra cabins or deck area alone are not sufficient evidence.

Are Pa'lante or the Sanlorenzo 57Steel charter options?

They are used solely as official shipyard examples of length, tonnage and layout variation. REQUEST VIP availability requires a separate, current commercial listing and operator confirmation.

How early should ports be planned?

As soon as the yacht and dates are credible, particularly around events and restricted marinas. Berth, anchorage and tender backup should be developed together rather than sequentially.

What does a 50m-plus charter cost?

No verified generic price is published here. Request a named, dated offer covering fee, tax, expenses, fuel, positioning, ports, supplies, tenders, deposits and cancellation.

Who decides whether tenders and water equipment can operate?

The captain and responsible crew decide according to condition, weather, local rules, licences and safety. A listed item is not a guarantee that it can be launched at a chosen time.
